Jamie Weaver Recognized as Cooperative Forest Management Forester of the Year

The Northeastern Area Association of State Foresters has named Jamie Weaver Cooperative Forest Management Forester of the Year for 2016. Mr. Weaver received the award in recognition of his dedication and contributions to sustainable forest management, the forestry profession, and his community. Nominees for this award, given annually, compete in a rigorous and highly competitive award review process, with the best and finest professionals being selected as recipients.

As Maryland Department of Natural Resources Watershed Forester, Mr. Weaver works to facilitate the establishment of riparian forest buffers in Carroll and Baltimore Counties in Maryland. He works closely with landowners to develop comprehensive weed control and reinforcement plans on forest buffer planting sites in need of remediation, and to coordinate cost-share funding for landowners using various funding sources.  He also coordinates the local Backyard Buffers tree planting program in cooperation with the Carroll County Forestry Board.
